Housed in the old Grade II listed Post Office on Victoria Street in Derby, The Post House brings a new food and drink concept to Derby. The idea behind the space is a communal dining area and various ‘units’ housing different food and drink businesses
I was kindly invited to the launch party on 25th May, ahead of their official opening day on 26th
Ever since a conversation with a French sommelier at Ormeggio at the Spit about dessert wine, I have wanted to visit Chateau d’Yquem. It was only in February this year that the Chateau opened its doors up to the public – before this you could only visit if you were in the wine industry and arrangements were made by those in the know
During a recent trip to stay with friends who live in the Charante region of France, we decided to book a tour of the Chateau – only a 2 hour drive away. Early on a drizzly autumn Saturday morning, we hopped in the car armed with coffee & croissants and began our journey
The Sat Nav directed us to the perimeter of the estate but as there aren’t any signs (apparently people steal them as souveneirs!) it is not the easiest place to find. With a little guidance over the phone, we eventually came to the main gates and drove down the gravel driveway
The roof terrace at Pitcher & Piano in Derby has always been a favourite of ours – as one of very few outdoor areas in the city, it’s the perfect place to meet for lunch or drinks when the weather is good.
Recently though, the terrace area had been looking a little tired which is why we were excited to hear that it was going to be getting a re-vamp!
We were kindly invited to be on the guest list for the re-launch on 15th July – how could we say no!
Worth Brothers Wines are an independant wine merchant that has shops in Kirk Langley & Lichfield. They hold events, including wine tastings in both shops and barbecue cookery courses at their ‘Well Fired’ HQ in Kirk Langley.
We headed over to one such event on Friday night in Kirk Langley for their ‘Discover something new’ tasting.
